A Christmas Kiss

A Christmas kissOn one of my many Christmas gallivants this December, a group of us went to a new bistro in Heathfield, Galin. It does lovely food in a modern European style.

I can’t drink alcohol at all, it gives me a horrible migraine, so I was very pleased to see this drinks menu with not one but four non-alcoholic cocktails to choose from. I chose the Kiss which is a mix of coconut milk, cranberry and pineapple juice and some grenadine. It was really delicious.

When I had the family round on Sunday, I thought I would have a go at reproducing it.

JuicesI mixed up roughly equal quantities of the juices and coconut milk, and then put in a big squirt of guava syrup. After tasting it, another big squirt went in, and that was it – a Christmas Kiss in a glass. It is fruity and creamy with a hint of sweetness from the syrup, and a tiny hint of bitterness from the cranberry.

SyrupI’m ashamed to tell you just how long that syrup has been in the cupboard. It smelled alright, tasted alright, so in it went!

Big effort to use up what’s in the cupboard in the new year. In the meantime, I hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow, I’m off for a cup of Nespresso and a mince pie.
